ANZHot Shots

Tennis Hot Shots is an exciting tennis program aimed at kids aged 10 and under. The program uses smaller courts, racquets and low compression balls, which make learning tennis easy for new players.

Launch Pad
Fundamental and Perceptual Motor Skills (Ages 3-5) This introduction stage covers foundation skills such as running, side stepping, balance, throwing and catching in addition to tennis basics such as the forehand, backhand and volleys. The ball used is a red ball, which is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25 per cent compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit it comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Launch Pad stage are much smaller and easier for kids to move around.

Red Stage
Explore (Ages 5-8) The Red stage is for beginners. The red ball is used in this stage as well and the courts are a little bigger with larger nets also being used.

Orange Stage
Develop (Ages 8-10) After mastering the Red stage, children move on to the Orange stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50 per cent compression) and the court is a bit bigger.

Green Stage
Encourage (Ages 9+) The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression (75 per cent of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court.

Finally, when they are ready, kids graduate to our Squads.

Riverside Squads

A great intermediate level where children use 100% compression balls and a full size court

Junior Development Squad
This level is for children who have graduated from our Hot Shots program. It is a great intermediate level where children use 100% compression balls and a full size court. We encourage all students in our Development squads to be competing in our NSJTA Competitions to advance their learning and skill set.

Entry into our Intermediate and Advanced squads are by coach nomination or a successful try out session. They run for 90-120mins and are focused on fitness, matchplay and court intelligence. It is recommended that students within our intermediate and advanced squads complement their sessions with at least 1 private lesson a week to focus on individual technique. Our squad players are also encouraged to participate in either NSJTA competition or state and national ranking points events.

Junior Intermediate Squad
Our entry level squad, which runs for 90 minutes.

Junior Advanced Squad
This final stage is 120 minutes in duration and reserved for our best juniors. Children in this level should be competing in tournaments on a regular basis and working towards developing their ranking.
